Another Poem

This poem was based on a forbidden friendship, a friendship that was never allowed, or supposed to be, but turned out so anyways.

Forbidden and restricted, it was so
There was no other way to go
Forced enemies, chosen friends
Together forever until the end

Different beliefs, black and white
Historically, should always fight
But in truth, things can change
And history’s then rearranged

In horrid times, when no one smiled
A little boy could, just for awhile
The fence could not even separate
What two boys built to be so great

Today and tomorrow, we’ll realize
Ugly, dark, different in size
Does not determine who you know
Creates diversity amongst us, though

Adventure can lead to surprise
Desire to learn more soon will rise
Return again the very next day
From this pattern, you never stray

A secret that cannot be told
The truth can burn the others cold
Wrong to mingle with the other kind
A liking in each other they still find

The longing to discover more
From one’s safety it has tore
A head held up, he shall not cry
The passion built will never die

Left Out

That feeling, of being left out, left behind. It makes you feel like.. like nobody wants you. Like you're not important enough. Like no one cares. It just brings you down, and no matter how hard they try, people can't cheer you up. Others don't understand, they never will. They don't get your pain. You want them to, but then again, maybe you don't. Maybe you want sympathy, maybe not. What you really want is for them to stop, though. The feeling sucks.

Even though you feel like you're not good enough, you have to realize that you are. If you weren't, you wouldn't be alive. Everyone has a purpose in life; that's why they're made. Some people's roles are big, some aren't. We're all like, puzzle pieces to a giant puzzle. Some pieces are only the grass, the sky, or the background, and some pieces are the faces, the buildings, the focus of the puzzle. But either way, the puzzle wouldn't be complete without all the pieces.

But there's many things to realize. First, if these people are ignoring you, then maybe they don't care. Which hurts, but that means they aren't really your friends. True friends stand by your side, no matter how crazy, random, or dumb your choice is: they'll support you every step of the way. The ones that leave you out, forget about you, or any other dumb excuse, those ones aren't worth your time.

Second, being left behind is different. It might not be their fault they're leaving you behind. Someone else might be pushing them ahead, and holding you back. You have to be able to know the difference, so you don't blame the wrong person. And in the end, it might hurt, but as long as those ahead of you, the ones you want to be with, the ones you call your friends, don't ignore you, then they're worth it. They don't mean it to be that way, that's just how it is.

Lastly, there will always be someone who will stand by your side. Just because they aren't in your life now, doesn't mean they're not out there. Because they are; waiting; for you, whether they know it or not. At some point in your life, you will come across people you can depend on, lean on, rely on to be there when you need it. It might take a while to find that person, but in the end, it will all be worth it.

We're Not All The Same

This is true. We are all different. Everybody is unique. We all have different beliefs, feelings, ideas, dreams, and talents. We also all look different. And because we are all different, we can't all be treated the same. Everybody's different, and everyone needs different things.
But, in a way, we are all the same, too. Well, we all have the same... "base". I mean, we all have a heart in our chest, a mind in our head, and a soul in our body. What I mean by this, is we all have feelings, we all make mistakes, and we all get hurt. because guess what: We're all human, that's why. But we're different humans. See, it's complicated. But I feel like people take advantage of this: the fact that we're different. And they abuse it: If people are different, they can be treated differently. But the definition of different isn't what you'd think. Treating people differently to them is being nice to some people, mean to others, rude to others, and completely ignore some. That's not what it means though. Just because everyone should be treated differently doesn't mean that some people you can treat rudely. That's not how it works.
As wrong as it is, though, it IS a way of life; it's what makes the world even. Because if there was nothing wrong, there'd be nothing right. If there was no bad, there'd be no good. If there was no villains, there'd be no heroes. Why is that you say? Perhaps another time ;)

Misunderstood

She ain't antisocial, she's just shy.
Why's she shy? I don't know, ask her.
You don't want to ask her? Why not?
Who cares what others think? Go ask her.
So now you're afraid? Who knows, maybe she's nice.
She looks funny? I'm sure she has her reasons.
She isn't mean, she's just afraid.
Why don't you try asking her? Maybe you'll understand if you talk to her.
Don't be mean, its not fair to her.
Go on, go say hi.

***

Well?
See, I told you she might be nice.
Good, now she has a friend to talk to.
You shouldn't ever judge someone by their looks.
I'm proud of you.

___________________________________________________________________________________

It's wrong to misjudge people, I'm sure you've been told that all your life. That's because it's one of the biggest mistakes people ever make. And it can cost you at some point. Who knows? That person you ignored because of their looks could have been your best friend one day, or that perfect someone. But you turned away from them because they didn't look 'appealing'.

You can also misjudge people the other way around, if you think about it. You might be attracted to someone because of their looks; but in truth they're personality is not as pretty as their looks. You might end up getting hurt in the end.

Everyone always tells you: don't judge a book by its cover. Yet sometimes it's hard not to. As some people say: books have a cover for a reason. But in truth, the covers HELP you judge the book, they only supply a piece of what it is. You should take everything into consideration, inside and out. That's the only way to be completely fair.

The Lesson

I had to write a poem for the book called Tuesdays With Morrie. Here's what I came up with. I hope you like it. Again, I listened to music while writing it, because music is my influence.

The Lesson

The strong and wise now withering away
As the rest of the world lives out its days
From their string of life they’d never stray
To hear what the old professor will say

For sixteen years they separate
Brought back together just by fate
Listen now, its not too late
Replace with passion all your hate

So big yet small this place to be
Love let in and you will see
Self sorrow is hypocrisy
Tears will fall yet set you free

Keep close to love, its guaranteed
Those who care help you succeed
To inner health you’ll always heed
And inside you’ll find just what you need

All mortals fear the years go by
Are scared of having to say goodbye
Purchase doesn’t fulfill, so don’t even try
There’s better things than living life high

Although unnoticed by some
The feeling can still leave them numb
Commitment is not in the likes of dumb
And the best will still have yet to come

Greed, praise, fortune, and fear
And losing the objects we keep near
The feel of revenge you shall sear
Its not okay to keep it here

If no issues you had to tend
The greatest day you would mend
But today your heart will seem to bend
For another life has to end

Ghosts of Days Gone By

Here is another poem I wrote, it's called ghosts.

The ghosts of the past
Are presented as fear
The ghosts of the present
Tell me why I’m here
Ghosts will tell the facts
Ghosts don’t always scare
Ghosts represent the memories
We were too scared to share
A loved one now lost
A day that stands out amongst the rest
The sight of amazing beauty
The moment you felt like the best
Ghosts are there to scare
Remind, repair, be unfair
Sadden, brighten, evoke
All with a single stroke
Ghosts are just mere memories
Of the days gone by
They are history brought to the present
Summoned by anyone willing to try
When the ghosts from the past
Come visit you one day
Fill your heart with the feelings
And don’t ever be afraid

My poems come from music, but not the kind of music you would expect. I get my poems from rock songs, and rock bands. I hope you enjoy :D

The Dream

Here is a poem I wrote a while ago. I call it The Dream. It is my favorite poem I have ever written:

When I was young
You asked me what I wanted to be
I said famous
You asked why
I said to change the world
You asked how I’d do that
I said through kindness
You patted my cheek, smiled, and said “good luck dear”

When I was older
You asked the same things
My answers didn’t change
You forced a smile and said,
“That’s wonderful dear
But you’re getting older now
And maybe it’s time to think of something else
Something more realistic”
I gritted my teeth and said nothing

When I left for college
Your questions came again
My answers were the same
You threw your arms in the air and said,
“For goodness sakes, grow up already
You’re an adult now
That’s just a dream
And you need more than dreams to get you somewhere”
I gave you a hug, told you I’d loved you
And left for my new life

When I had my first child
You brought them upon me again
I answered them the same as always
You pointed at my child and said
“They’re the next generation
And you can’t fill their mind with silly thoughts
They need you there for them
And that silly dream won’t help.”
I looked at my child and kissed its head

When my best friend got in a car wreck
You couldn’t keep the questions from coming
Teary eyed, I spat the usual answers back at you
You looked at me calmly and said,
"Child, if you don't let that thought go,
You could end up like your friend.
Covering up reality with fantasy,
That won't get you anywhere."
I stifled my sobs as you tried reassuring me

When you were sick in the hospital
You whispered the familiar words
Bravely, I gave you the usual response
You took my hand and said,
"All my life, I've been telling you you're wrong
To dream about such a thing
But now I realize I was wrong to hold you back.
Give it all you've got and don't let anyone stop you.
I love you"
I nodded, kissed your forehead, and sat down.

Nobody died in the hospital that day
Not a single soul
Everyone prayed that night
For the same thing the next day
Unfortunately, we weren’t as lucky

At your funeral, your words still rang in my head
“Don’t let anyone stop you”
As I kissed your forehead for the last time
I made an oath, to you and myself
To do just that
I cried, watching as a tear landed on your cheek
You almost smiled

Ten years later, as I walk to my new job
The sun shines in the early morning
Bikers ride down the empty streets
A once homeless man stares out a five-story window
A store owner gives an apple to a poor boy
And there isn’t a single sad soul around
I smile with ease

Early to work, I take a quick detour
I stood where I had ten years ago
Crying from the grief I had suffered
This time though, I smile, and speak
“Mom I did it.
I’m changing the world
One small step at a time
Just like I promised.”
Tears welled up in my eyes
I kissed your headstone
Said I loved you
And left for my job

As I walked away, I heard your voice
You said a million things at one
But all I heard was
“I love you, dear.
And I’m sorry”

Time

Time is never on our side. We only get so much of it. So why waste it? We have to learn to make the most of our time.

People take that phrase in so many different ways. Some people feel it means they need to cram as much stuff as they can into a day. That's their opinion, their view on the meaning of the phrase. And you can't judge them by that. It's their beliefs, don't crush them.

Some people think that it means they need to take each moment slowly, savor it, enjoy it. Because you might not get another chance like it. Make each moment count, no matter how long the moments are. And that's okay. Because that's what they think it means, and everyone interprets things differently.

And then some people just don't take it very seriously. And that's okay too, no matter how stuck up or wrong the person seems. Because we're not all the same.

If today was your last day, what would you do? How would you leave this world? What final memory of you will you leave people with? How will you change the world?

Time is always our enemy, but we have to keep our friends close and enemies closer. And time is definitely close to us. And even though it is our enemy, sometimes we our able to put our differences aside and unite. <3

Solar Energy

Why aren't we using it? I mean, it is the cleanest, freshest, most powerful form of energy on this planet. There is a limitless supply, and we aren't stealing from the environment. So okay it is a little harder to get and a little more expensive, but isn't it worth it in the end if we extend the life of our planet by a few hundred years. You know, OUR HOME?

This world is very technologically advanced. So there is no way scientists can come up with a safe, effective way to use and preserve the sun's rays and power something like a whole city? The sun's rays are extremely powerful, and we can certainly power a lot of things with them. Why don't we focus on accomplishing that instead of constantly killing our planet with the fuels we use already? Why don't we fix what we've started instead of making it worse and TALKING about fixing it, huh? Talking only gets you so far. Actions speak louder than words. How about we just act already, ok? Good.

What a Shame

Look at these lyrics. This is the song What A Shame by Shinedown. I love this song, and it is the perfect example of a sufferer of judgmental people.

What a Shame

Two packs of cigarettes a day
The strongest whiskey
Kentucky can make
That's a recipe to put a vagabond
On his hands and knees
I watched it all up close,
I knew him more than most
I saw a side of him he never showed
Full of sympathy for a world that
Wouldn't let him be

That's the man he was,
Have you heard enough?

[Chorus]
What a shame, what a shame,
To judge a life that you can't change
The choir sings, the church bells ring
So, won't you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we're not all the same
What a shame

There's a hard life for every silver spoon
There's a touch of grey for every shade
Of blue
That's the way that I see life
If there was nothing wrong,
Then there'd be nothing right
And for this working man they say could
Barely stand
There's gotta be a better place to land
Some kind of remedy for a world that
Wouldn't let him be

That's the man he was,
Have you heard enough?

[Chorus]
What a shame, what a shame,
To judge a life that you can't change
The choir sings, the church bells ring
So, won't you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we're not all the same
What a shame

God forgive the hands that laid you down
They never knew how much a broken heart can break the sound and change the season
Now the leaves are falling faster,
Happily ever after
You gave me hope through your endeavors
And now you will live forever

[Chorus]
What a shame, what a shame,
To judge a life that you can't change
The choir sings, the church bells ring
So, won't you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we're not all the same
What a shame, what a shame
'Cause we're not all the same
What a shame, what a shame
'Cause we're not all the same

Hope you like it as much as I do. You can listen here:

To judge a life that you can't change

Why do we have to be so judgmental? Why? What's the point? I don't think we care enough about people around us to watch ourselves. Someone says one wrong thing, and all of a sudden they are the meanest person ever. And everything they say nice is them just trying to 'cover up' what they did wrong. Did we ever think that maybe, just maybe, nobody's perfect, and that sometimes we mess up? That we say the wrong thing every once in a while? And when you do it, you expect everyone to get over it, even though you didn't forgive the one who did it to you. Hypocritical.

What about someone who was born with a defect? Autism, a learning disability, something wrong with their body one way or another, like a missing limb. You know what happens? They get laughed at. People think it's funny that someone learns slower than they do. People find it hilarious that they struggle so much with their homework. Or, they find it creepy and walk away. What the heck is wrong with people?! Like they can help it? What if you all of a sudden got a twitch in your.. hand? You try super hard, but you can't control it. That's how people with autism or a disability feel. They try to overcome it, but they just can't control it. How would you feel if you got in an accident and you lost your hand? You come into school a week later and no one comes near you anymore, because they are scared of the stub of a hand you now have. Betrayed much? Yeah, exactly.

We misjudge everyone. I think the world is so cruel because of this. Listen to this song. It's called What a Shame, by Shinedown. It's about a person who was misjudged. Maybe it can change your perspective. It did mine.

What A Shame

Hope you like. Hope you learn. <3

Devour

People misjudge and misunderstand rock music. Rock music is one of the more emotional genres. Artists that compose rock music get the influence of their songs from their feelings, from real life experiences, from their life. One of the biggest topics, though, is war. It might not seems like it, see the judgment coming in?, but rock musicians hate the wars happening. My favorite band, Shinedown, actually went out to Iraq to meet the troops and play for them. Their song "Devour" was influenced by the trip. Nonpoint's "Frontlines" is about war and fighting. Five Finger Death Punch's "Far From Home" is about troops leaving home and possibly never coming back. Those are the one's I can think of right now, but I'm right, and you know it.

A person's mind is complex. Some are more than others. It seems like a rockstar's mind is the most complex when it come to writing songs. They combine their feelings, their thoughts, their memories, and compose them into the best song they can. They can write about a dream, or a death, or an incident, or a certain feeling about, say, life, or a specific date in time they'll never forget, like the day they become a parent. Anything can be turned into a song, a story, a poem. It just takes really good writers to make it good. Rockstar's are good writers... some are. Everyone misunderstands them, they're songs are great. They have a meaning. At least more of a meaning than some pop songs. Try it out. Please? Then decide if you like rock. Don't hate it without trying it. That's not fair.

Check out these songs on youtube because I can't link you to them:

Devour by Shinedown
Frontlines by Nonpoint
Far From Home by Five Finger Death Punch
What a Shame by Shinedown

There's A Hard Life For Every Silver Spoon

Look at this definition of family:

any group of persons closely related by blood, as parents, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins: to marry into a socially prominent family.

This is the 4th definition for family at Dictionary.com
Of course, I'm using this definition just to defend my little story.. no not story... just something to think about. Some people say a family is only a family if biologically related. Well, listen... and think... to/about this:

Imagine a mother, father, and daughter. A typical family. The mother dies. The father remarries to a woman who has a son. The marriage doesn't work out, and the mother leaves. The father dies. The two children are taken under the guidance of a legal guardian. Their guardian decides to adopt from a foreign country. Then, the daughter's best friend moves in with her because her family has too many issues. So now you have the daughter, her best friend, her step-brother, the legal guardian, and the adopted child. Five different blood lines, five people who aren't at all biologically related. But they are a family.

See? Nice, right?

It's all that I can say

Here are some awesomerific quotes. Some are mine, but those that aren't I will put the name next to it, if I know it...

"I don't live to watch people die." -ME

"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you." -??

"A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others" -L. Frank Baum

"Imagination is more important than knowledge." -Albert Einstein

"All men are liable to error; and most men are, in many points, by passion or interest, under temptation to it." -John Locke

“All that stuff about heavy metal and hard rock, I don't subscribe to any of that. It's all just music. I mean, the heavy metal from the Seventies sounds nothing like the stuff from the Eighties, and that sounds nothing like the stuff from the Nineties. Who's to say what is and isn't a certain type of music?” -Ozzy Osbourne

“Its difficult. People might just be scared of being in an uncomfortable situation. I have never had any difficulties.” -Brent Smith

"Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?" -Abraham Lincoln

"Life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about." -Oscar Wilde

There's more to come, so stay tuned! =) Hope you like.

Diamond Eyes

Life is like a giant puzzle. Who you are decides how big the
puzzle is. As you grow up, and make your way through school, you figure out what image the puzzle is displaying. Going through college and your early years of adulthood, that puzzle starts assembling. Some people never finish the puzzle. Sometimes its done for them. Some push through the hardest ways of life to finish it. The puzzle is you and your life. Your goal is to finish it. The picture may change over the years. You might put some pieces in wrong, you might not be able to find where some pieces go. But that's the point. Puzzles are hard. So is life.
When it comes to this puzzle, people are interesting. Some people rush to finish it. Once they get there, they don't know what to do. Some people like to take their time. Some people enjoy the journey, and don't want to finish it. Some people reach the end, and realize the picture isn't what they wanted. So they take it apart and start again.
It also depends how big your puzzle is. Some people get a cheat, and the puzzle is super easy. For some, its already finished. Some people's puzzles, though, are huge, with tons of different pieces. These people have to work the hardest to finish. But finishing it gives them way more pride than those that had it handed to them.
Some people cut corners on their puzzle. They think its finished. Then they stop and look at it real hard and realize they have all the pieces in wrong. They have to start all over.
Some people take on multiple different puzzles at a time. Strong enough people will finish them all. Often they will get overwhelmed, or confuse the pieces with one another, and might put the wrong pieces into a puzzle.
It all depends what kind of person you are, and challenge you are willing to take. Well, what do you think?

The Sight of Madness

Being a student can be cool. Researching and looking for pictures can be even cooler. You never know what you'll come across. Here are some really cool pictures I've found over time. Some are cool, some are cute, and some are amazing.

If You Only Knew

I really want my blog to be noticed. LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, I got this wicked idea.
Some people call a blog an online journal. Well, I have this project for school where you pick one of these four situations and pretend that you were there. You either make a video, audio thingy, or a journal. I'm going to make a journal, and use my blog to do it! Also, I can make the writing look all journal-ish, and I can put videos and images and quotes into the entry, making it all 21st century like. Cool, huh?
I think it's innovative and creative and it will really help my blog perhaps. So, until later, I guess, peace out!

In my Head

I was made to eat cow meat. :( I ate Betsy the cow!!!!!
Oh well.... I'm a bad person. I'm in a class right now about English/Science and I'm posting on my blog. o_0 Bad me!
I like school... to a point. I have a certain type of learning perspective to learn from. Reading books, and doing tons of hands on projects. Like in history, I love doing newspapers. In science, well... I don't understand science. Only earth science, because it's all words and no formulas. English is English. I like English. I'm a writer by heart, and English is all about writing. I like art, music, creativity, and more. Shinedown is my favorite band. I like drawings. If someone asks me one word to describe me, it's creative.
I hope you all have enjoyed by blog lately. I really am trying to keep up with you guys and keep you updated. Talk to me. Leave comment, ask questions, give suggestions. PLEASE!!!!!
I really brainfarted today, and I have not much more to say. So, very boring post. Peace out peoples!!!!!!! :)
P.S. I am going to Florida this weekend! I live in California. We're leaving at six in the morning and getting there at 3:00 pm. Fun, right? I know, I am soo lucky!!!! Get to sit in a plane for 6+ hours.

Sometimes Goodbye is a Second Chance

So last night I watched Oprah, which we recorded from earlier that day. The whole staff went vegan for a week. It was pretty cool, and some people lost like 11 pounds and everyone was more aware of what they ate. Great stuff, right? Right. But that's not my point. Then, they went inside one of the places that have cattle that they turn into meat. Yeah, it was really freaky... and depressing. There were all these cows. They got them really at, to like 1200 pounds or something. Then they walked them somewhere and...... killed them, to put it simply. Then they... you know.. they broke down the cow into all the foods that we eat. I totally understand, and they actually really respect the cow and everything (People aren't allowed to work there unless they respect the animal), but it really hit me hard. So I have decided no more cow meat for me. No burgers, steak, etc. Steak'll be easy. Burgers a little harder. But it'll be way healthier for me. Maybe you can do it with me? So far, so good. Try it. It might change 'you' as a person. And if you wanna change, voila! That's why I titled the blog like I did. Saying goodbye to cow meat is a second chance at eating right. And I'm a gymnast, I need to.

Beyond the Sun

I feel like... I am a thinker. I think... a lot. Silly, right? I dunno.... But I can never really tell anyone what I really think about. I feel... weird. Like I'm all spiritual and such. Which is SSOO not a bad thing AT ALL, just my friends aren't those type of people. But I still like thinking. I love debates. I'll give you one:

Which is better for the environment: Paper towels or air dryers?

My choice is an air dryer. The reason being that if we look in the right place, there is way more energy than paper available. To make air dryers, we use only energy, too. To make paper towels, you have to use energy to cut down the trees, and process the trees and such, then ship them and package them. So you're using two resources for these instead of one. Air dryers can be used over and over and over again as well, so you really only need one per bathroom. Paper towels are used once, then thrown away. It's such a waste. Even recycling them isn't enough. We should quit using them all together. And why do we like paper towels better? Because they're faster. Sitting under an air dryer for an extra 20 seconds is going to kill us? What will kill us is cutting down all those trees. You know, the trees that give us the oxygen we breathe? And as for the energy for the air dryers, use solar energy. The sun will never run out energy. You ever seen the sun chips commercial? "In 30 seconds, the sun's rays provide enough energy to power the whole world, for a day." I think we should be using some of it! That's a waste, for sure.

Hope you agree with me. Thanks for reading.

It's Only the Beginning

For me, blogs are hard to keep up. But this one I'm determined. Yeah, yeah, I've said that before, but I can feel it... I think.
All I can say is be prepared. You never know what I'll write. I'll never know what I'll write. I guess it's just a surprise.
I guess you're wondering about my blog's name: I Dare You. First of all, it's a song by this band called Shinedown. They're my favorite. Secondly, I feel that phrase is a very strong one. It challenges those that doubt you, those you stand up against. It's like saying "I dare you to doubt me", "I dare you to call me a liar", etc. It's a strong term... to me.
I hope you understand, and I hope you listen. And I hope you stick with me.
